returned from the harbour city. i currently have 21 krispy kreme original style donuts remaining.
the gambling gods have shone upon me... i went to the sydney casino (star city) which does actually happen to be much tackier than our own behemoth in crown. there began a huge saga of not knowing the rules and regulations of the place... first i tried to get in my torn denim jeans. we escaped that entrance and tried another, involving a nonchalant swagger covering my torn denim knee with my jumper... we did manage to enter. then, having gotten the free $10 from casino membership i tried to put it down on a roullette table. the croupier then mumbled something in a thick asian accent which i did not understand whatsoever... a helpful white businessman with a giant stack of chips translated: 'next spin'. so i waited dutifully for the next spin... then handing over the $10 voucher i was told another untranslatable line... which was helpfully translated: 'you need to put it on the table". i did so and then was offered a $10 chip, asking for some $2 chips was told that this request was not kosher and was offered odds or evens or reds or blacks... (as if i don't know how to play roulette! well maybe i didn't know the finer points of casino ettiquette but well...) placing it on a corner i then found myself to have octupled (sp?) my layout. the croupier did manage to lay a parting shot though, he looked at the other guy who had won and said... it's just you then...
(what a long pointless story... i'll enjoy rereading it one day)
subsequently i managed to win a house game of poker with a kitty of $25. huzzah! :)
the weather in sydney is beautiful right now! 20 degrees today... beautiful day. wonderful day for the footy at the SCG today (go the swans! take that top of the ladder eagles!) too bad sydney is incredibly hard to get around in... the traffic is horrendous, public transport in as much of a mess as here in melbourne but it's worse because everything is quite a lot more spread out resulting in a greater reliance on the system... the people are subsequently quite angry and stressed and everything seems dirtier and dodgier and more unsafe... one good thing though is that the airport is 10 mins away on train from the city which was quite convenient...
and then it was the middle priced virgin flight back home...
uni tomorrow. yay :) or not.
